Your films inform the audience. Whether they wanted to be
informed or not, they will leave the cinema screaming your films
theme. Nothing stops you making a film, you can throw resources
by the battalion. Anyone of the cast or crew that’s doesn’t
work out is quietly removed at lunchtime and is never heard of
again after the distant echo of machine gun fire. Your
flexability of mind allows you to inform your audiences of
different things… one day a film can say ‘be
environmental’, the next film glorifies the carpark. Your
public will relish either and leave with a glassy eyed smile as
they hail your name. Right wing, left wing, who cares, if they
don’t listen to you chop off both!
Seriously now, the real Joseph Geobbels: Yes, he's a strange one to have here. He was more an executive director, Uber Executive Director even. The films he controlled were controlled as closely as if he were on the set or in the editing suite. His films changed filmmaking throughout Europe, nay, the world. His films changed the world. I didn't say for the better. However it may show you the power that can be, and has been, wielded. Be careful.
